Mala Carpets is the trading arm of Project Mala Charitable Trust - a UK Registered charity that was established in 1989 with the aim of eradicating the exploitation of children in the hand-knotted carpet industry in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India.

Mala Carpets are made by adult weavers directly commissioned by Mala carpets.  They are shipped and sold direct without and middle men's profit.  Any profit we make is used to support the work of Project Mala in providing schooling for children in rural India. (see Project mala)

Our carpets directly provide work for skilled weavers and our profit goes to provide schools for children in India so we are trully the ultimate in fair trade.
