This means 'spring' in Hindi. It seems the design was inspired by the look of the carpet as a garden with lots of shoots springing up everywhere. Its bold and busy central design is in some contrast to the fairly formal border to this carpet. Similar designs can be seen in many Indo Persian classics. It is woven in Indian hand spun wool with tea stained fringes. The construction is 30:30 and the pile height is 0.5 inches. |
