Indian carpet design 'Kohinoor'

created by Mala Handicrafts and sold by Mala Carpets

The two bold symbols which dominate this carpet resemble the sparkle of a diamond and this carpet is named after the famous Koh-i-noor grade Mogul diamond which was reputed to have weighed 240 carats. This diamond disappeared from India in 1665 and some people believe this is the same diamond that now adorns the British Crown jewels. It is one of our most popular designs and is woven in a number of colourways using 30 to 45 count of multi-coloured hand spun Indian wool. The ends are finished with a short kelim incorporating the colours of the Indian flag.
